A RARE H.E. DIMICK MARKED METROPOLITAN NAVY REVOLVER, c. 1864-66. Serial number 1470, .36 caliber octagonal barrel engraved on the top 'Made for H.E. Dimick, St. Louis.'; six-shot cylinder, steel frame, brass trigger guard and grip frame marked '.36 Cal.' on the left side, walnut grip, all matching serial numbers including the wedge. Barrel lg. 7 1/2, overall lg. 13 in. Condition: Steel toned mostly to brown, brass toned to dark yellow, grip has scattered dings and dents and abrasion on the left side, action functions but does not hold on full cock. Footnotes: Provenance John Hayes, 1995. Note About 300 Metropolitan Navy revolvers were sold to H.E. Dimick of St. Louis, Missouri, of which about 100 were marked on the barrel by Dimick.
