AN ENGLISH TWO-BARREL FLINTLOCK PISTOL, by Thomas Archer, Birmingham, c. 1777. 4 1/4 in., .45 caliber round cannon muzzle barrels screwed to an iron box lock with foliate scroll engraving and 'T.ARCHER' on the right side, the underside with Tower-style crossed scepter proof marks, single cock with wide steel and two pans, the left pan with sliding cover; walnut stock with scrolling silver wire inlay and oval silver thumb piece, molded silver butt cap with Birmingham touchmarks and date letter 'E' for 1777. Condition: Steel elements are polished bright and have moderate pitting, stock has wear, dings and dents, silver is tarnished, action functions properly.
