AN ENGLISH BRASS SCREW BARREL FLINTLOCK POCKET PISTOL, possibly by John Welch, Birmingham, third quarter of the 18th century. 2 1/2 in., .43 caliber cannon muzzle barrel on a brass box lock frame with Birmingham proof marks on the underside, the right side with engraved foliate scrolls, the right side engraved 'WELCH'; walnut stock with scrolling silver wire inlay. Overall lg. 7 3/4 in. Condition: Brass toned to yellow, scattered dings, dents and light scratches, most wire inlay missing from the right side and top of the grip, inlay on left side mostly intact, action functions properly.
