A SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR CARBINE, 1882. Serial number 189385, .45-70 caliber, round barrel with adjustable rear sight and marked with 'V,' 'P' and eagle's head proof marks, loading door marked 'U.S./MODEL/1873'; flat lock plate with rounded tail marked with a spread wing eagle and 'U.S./SPRINGFIELD'; walnut stock, the left side deeply stamped 'BRONCHO M.P CO.' and '4/E' above the butt plate tang; steel furniture including a butt plate marked 'US' on the tang, trigger guard and barrel band. Barrel lg. 22, overall lg. 41 1/4 in. Condition: Barrel toned to brown, lock plate retains bluing, stock has scattered dings and dents, bore is quite pitted, action functions properly. Footnotes: Note Carbine is likely a former movie production-used firearm.
