A CASED FRENCH FLOBERT SALOON PISTOL, by F.P. Caron, Paris, third quarter of the 19th century. 9 1/8 in., .22 caliber smoothbore blued octagonal barrel engraved on the top 'F.P. Caron, Arq. 20 Passage de l'Opera a Paris.' with notch rear sight and bead front sight; foliate scroll engraved breech tang, deeply foliate scroll carved and textured hard wood stock with foliate scroll engraved trigger guard and conforming butt cap; housed in a stained hard wood case with compartmented interior lined in blue velvet, with a screw driver, cleaning and ejection rods, the inside of the lid marked in gilt 'CARON/20 PASSAGE DE L'OPERA/& BOULEVART DES ITALIENS 8 A PARIS.' Overall lg. 14 5/8 in. Condition: Very good overall condition, barrel nearly all of its bluing having minor thinning along the sharp edges; hammer is bright, stock has minor blemishes, action functions properly; case exterior has minor scratches, keyhole escutcheon is detached but present, interior has minor wear.
