American Horseman's Saber, attributed to Jeremiah Snow, Springfield, Massachusetts, late 18th century. Brass hilt with branch on outer side of counter-guard, plain knuckle bow connecting to an urn-form pommel, cherry grip with twisted brass wire wrapping; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and three narrow fullers, red wool washer at top of blade. Blade lg. 32 5/8, overall lg. 38 1/4 in. Condition: Brass toned to deep yellow, grip has scattered dings and dents, hilt is tight on the blade tang; blade is toned to gray and has a few very shallow nicks on the edge.
