American Horseman's Saber, late 18th century. Brass hilt, the counter-guard with two branches connecting to a tapering knuckle bow and brass pommel with back strap, spiral carved cherry grip with brass wire wrapping; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip, one narrow and one wide fuller, trace of bluing on the upper third of the blade. Blade lg. 32 3/4, overall lg. 37 3/4 in. Condition: Hilt is toned to yellow, grip has a few chips at the top and bottom, hilt is tight on the blade tang; blade toned to mottle gray with light pitting at the tip and several shallow nicks on the blade edge.
