Armorial Porcelain Mug with the Arms of Trevor Quartering Ellis, Jingdezhen, China, c. 1775. Large wheel-thrown mug with molded bead borders ringing the shoulder and foot, the extruded interlaced handles terminating in sprig-molded clusters of leaves and berries, overglaze decorated en grisaille with floral swag and chain border around the canted rim, the frontispiece depicting shield with arms of TREVOR, Per bend sinister ermine and ermines a lion rampant or, quartering ELLIS, Argent three eels barwise in pale, surmounted by the crest, A lion's head erased, transfixed by an arrow, framed below by crossed and ribboned fronds, wd. 7, dp. 4 5/8, ht. 6 3/8 in.
