Armorial Porcelain Charger with the Arms of Partridge, Jingdezhen, China, c. 1740. Large flaring rim decorated with blue enamel spearhead border broken at top by rouge-de-fer and gold mantled shield bearing arms of PARTRIDGE, Gules on a fess cotised or between three partridges with wings displayed of the last as many torteaux, surmounted by a partridge crest, the cavetto filled with foliate scroll band in blue and black enamel, encircling well painted en grisaille and in rouge-de-fer enamel to depict a vase of flowers, retaining paper label inscribed 'HAMILTON COLLECTION' on reverse, diam. 12 3/4, ht. 1 1/2 in.
