Square plain-woven canvas worked in cross stitch with queen's stitch border, the top divided into three rows of alphabets and signed Ruth Sheldon Mason, 1832, the large field below inscribed with poem entitled 'Youth' in a stylized archway reserve, the spandrels inscribed 'Jenckes Street School / Providence Rhode Island' underscored with scrolling wave border, in later glazed frame, sight, 16 7/8 x 14 3/4 in.
