Four Crary Family Samplers, Connecticut, 1790-1832. Pristine framed samplers, worked primarily in cross stitch, queen's stitch, and broderie anglaise, by two generations of Crary women, including two nearly identical small embroideries dated 1790 and signed by sisters Sarah 'Sally' Crary Tyler (1776-1813) and Amy Crary Bingham Rix (1778-1857), of Preston, Connecticut; together with two larger samplers wrought by their nieces, Amelia Crary Park (1813-44) and Joanna S. Crary (1819-1901), which are dated 1824 and 1832, respectively, largest, framed, 18 1/8 x 18 1/2 in. Footnotes: Provenance A North Smithfield, Rhode Island, Estate. Purchased in 1992 from Henry T.
