c.1951 NSU 97cc Quick Frame no. 1335062 Engine no. 32 3217159 Please kindly note that this motorbike will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Dortmund: please contact eva.lengler@bonhams.com for booking. NSU recommenced motorcycle manufacture at end of WWI, rapidly returning to full production and in 1929 succeeded in recruiting designer Walter Moore from Norton. Moore had been responsible for Norton's first successful overhead-camshaft-engined machine, the CS1, so it came as no surprise when a distinctly Norton-esque cammy NSU appeared a short time later. However, it was not for his contribution to the design of its medium and large-capacity four-strokes that NSU had most reason to thank Moore, but for his 97cc two-stroke Quick ultra-lightweight, almost a quarter of a million of which were manufactured between 1936 and 1953. This Quick comes with an unidentified hand-written German document and two photographs taken in 2014. The engine turns over. Key not required Footnotes: Please kindly note that VAT at the prevailing german rate (currently 19%) will be added to the buyer's premium which will be invoiced on a VAT exclusive basis. If you are planning to export, please make the department aware. Lot to be sold without reserve.
