Truman/ Independence, Mo'), a fair copy of Truman's historic telegram to Eisenhower on the transfer of power after Eisenhower's electoral victory, 175 x 130 mm, type on card, dated November 7, 1952 [but later,] some toning, matted and framed between two photographs, one of Truman, one of Eisenhower, faded. 2. HOLMES, OLIVER WENDELL, JR. 1841-1935. Autograph Letter Signed ('O.W. Holmes') to Edward A. Harriman on the Western Maid case and contract law, 1 p, 215 x 130 mm, on Supreme Court of the United States letterhead, Washington, DC, May 30, 1924, framed double-sided with a photograph of Holmes. EXCELLENT LEGAL OBSEVATION FROM THE SUPREME COURT. Edward Avery Harriman was an expert in contract law and the author of Elements of the Law of Contracts in 1896. Holmes's response to the publication spurred a years long correspondence between the two, including this one during his time on the U.S. Supreme Court. 3. SANDBURG, CARL. 1878-1967. Typed Letter Signed ('Carl Sandburg') to Allan Nevins promising a copy of American Songbag to 'an old Camp Point boy ... who knows what the hell the book is about,' 1 p, 280 x 215 mm, on Chicago Saily News letterhead, May 24, 1932, autograph addition by Sandburg adding 'boy' after 'Camp Point,' two old vertical folds, matted and framed with a photograph of Sandburg. Camp Point, IL, was the birthplace of Allan Nevins, in whom Sandburg saw 'a particular kind of patriot' which his curated collection of American folk music would appeal to.
