Audubon') to P[ierre] Van Cortlandt regarding his subscription to Quadrupeds and delays in publishing, 4 1 p, ink on blue paper, the first sheet of a bifolium, integral address panel, stamp and postmark on verso second sheet, New York, December 29, 1854, closed tear to margin of second sheet at fold, with torn corner. WITH: Carte de Visite of John J. Audubon, from photographic negative from Brady's National Portrait Gallery, E. Anthony, 501 Broadway, New York, 1861. ON AN AUDUBON SUBSCRIPTION FOR PIERRE VAN CORTLANDT. Writing on the eve of publication of the Quadrupeds, Audubon responds to Pierre Van Cortlandt regarding his subscription to the work.
