Four interesting Chelsea plates, circa 1755-65 Comprising one with a moulded 'feathered edge' picked out in brown and blue, painted with scattered insects among two branches, one issuing fruit and one a nut, 21cm diam, red anchor mark, one with a scalloped rim, painted to the centre with a spray and scattered sprigs of flowers, the border with six panels of birds alternating with panels of engine-turning, 21.8cm diam, one with a scroll moulded border reserved with four pairs of birds perched on leafy branches picked out in gold, the centre with a spray and scattered sprigs of flowers, 23cm diam, one with a richly gilt elaborate rococo scroll moulded border painted with exotic birds perched among fruit and flowers, the centre with scattered sprigs, 21.4cm diam, gold anchor mark (4) Footnotes: Provenance Elizabeth Adams Collection The scalloped and the richly gilded plates illustrated by Elizabeth Adams, Chelsea Porcelain (2001), p.143, fig.10.5 and p.151, fig.11.15 respectively.
