A collection of Chelsea porcelain, circa 1755-60 Comprising an oval butter cooler, moulded in the form of a wooden dairy buttertub, pierced all over with small holes and raised on four scroll feet, painted with European flower sprays and insects, 14.3cm wide, an ecuelle or broth bowl and cover, the bifurcated handles naturalistically modelled as green stalks issuing finely modelled flowers, the cover with a finial formed as a single cherry, painted with birds perched on branches, 15.2cm wide, red anchor, a coffee cup with a tau handle painted with European flower sprays, 6cm high, red anchor, a conical coffee cup and saucer also painted with European flowers, saucer 13.6cm diam, brown anchors and numerals, and a large pine-cone moulded beaker and trembleuse saucer, the cup with rococo scrolled handles, painted with sprays of fruits and mushrooms, scattered sprigs and insects, cup 8.3cm high, brown anchors (8) Footnotes: Provenance Elizabeth Adams Collection The conical cup and saucer and pinecone moulded beaker and saucer are both illustrated by Elizabeth Adams in Chelsea Porcelain (2001), p.142, fig.10.4 and p.154, fig.11.18.
