PONTING (HERBERT GEORGE) 'The 'Terra Nova' in McMurdo Sound', large blue-green carbon print, signed in blind lower right, and SIGNED BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER ('H.G. Ponting') in white ink lower left, mounted on card, glazed and framed, image 580 x 740mm., [January 1911] Footnotes: Fine large format photo of Terra Nova with 'a berg in the last stage of decay... in this condition the ice frequently assumes the most beautiful shapes imaginable...' One of these was 'The Death of an Iceberg' [alternative title to our image]-- which represents a berg in the last stage of decay, from the action of the sun and currents' (H.G.
