Five Prattware jugs, circa 1800 Two moulded with busts in profile of Admiral Lord Nelson and Captain Berry flanked by ships, another with Nelson and Admiral Sir Hyde Parker, the fourth jug moulded with full-length portraits of Nelson and Earl St Vincent, each holding a speaking trumpet, Jervis with a sword raised, Nelson's vacant right sleeve pinned to his waistcoat, the fifth jug with a bust of Admiral Duncan, the reverse with maidens gathering the harvest, picked out in Pratt colours, 13cm - 15.5cm high (5) Footnotes: Captain Edward Berry commanded HMS Agamemnon at Trafalgar but his role as Nelson's flag captain aboard HMS Vanguard at the Battle of the Nile in August 1798 is most likely commemorated here. Indeed, Berry temporarily took charge whilst the injured Admiral was down below having his wounds tended to. Admiral Sir Hyde Parker commanded the British fleet at the Battle of Copenhagen on 2 April 1801. However, it is widely acknowledged that it was Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson's aggressive approach that won the battle. Nelson abhorred the hesitation of his commander and even ignored the cautious Admiral's signal to retreat, reportedly raising his telescope to his blind eye and announcing that his good eye would remain resolutely on the enemy.
