A STAINLESS STEEL AND GOLD AUTOMATIC CALENDAR BRACELET WATCH Model: GMT-Master Reference: 1675 Date: c. 1975 Movement: 26-jewel automatic, No. D764998 Dial: Brown Case: Tonneau form, screw down case back, No. 4030441 Strap/Bracelet: Stainless steel and gold Jubilee link Buckle/Clasp: Stainless steel clasp Signed: Case, dial, movement and clasp Size: 39mm Accompaniments: None Footnotes: In 1953, the Reference 6542 GMT- Master was born (lot 24). These pieces would feature a fourth 24-hour hand and a red and blue bezel insert to represent AM/PM times. These early models were ultimately succeeded by Rolex's updated design in the Reference 1675. The main characteristic of the Reference 1675 is a larger case size with crown guard, and a bezel insert made of aluminum. This model underwent many dial variations over its 21-year production run. The present example dates to circa 1975 and has the reference number indicated in both the case back and between the lugs and 12 o'clock. The dial has retained its 'Root Beer' color and lightly patinated 'nipple' indices, matching the hands. It is equipped with a Jubilee bracelet stamped with 6251H (the letter H stands of homme - 'men'.) This current lot is a beautiful example of the world's most iconic and instantly recognized timepieces amongst Rolex enthusiasts.
