A SHARPS NEW MODEL 1859 MILITARY CARBINE, c. 1860-63. Serial number 67867, .52 caliber, round barrel marked on the top 'SHARPS RIFLE/MANUFG. CO./HARTFORD. CONN.' and 'NEW MODEL 1859' and with Lawrence patent rear sight; frame marked on the right side 'R.S. LAWRENCE PAT./APRIL12TH 1859.' and 'C. SHARPS' PAT./OCT. 5TH 1852.,' the left side marked 'C. SHARPS' PAT./SEPT. 12TH 1848'; walnut stock with two cartouches on the left side adjacent to the sling bar; steel furniture including the butt plate, patch box and barrel band. Barrel lg. 22, overall lg. 39 1/4 in. Condition: Good overall condition, barrel retains some bluing above the band with the remainder transitioned to plum/brown, barrel has several small dents near the muzzle; lock it toned to gray/brown, stock has minor dings and dents, furniture has bluing but is toning toward gray, action functions properly, bore has minor pitting but strong rifling.
