A FLINTLOCK AMERICAN LONG RIFLE, attributed to George Schroyer, Sr., York County, Pennsylvania, late 18th/early 19th century. 44 1/2 in., .44 caliber octagonal smoothbore barrel with brass blade front sight; flat lock plate with stepped tail; tiger maple stock with carved C-scroll and line decoration on the butt, relief carved foliate decoration around the breech plug tang and entry pipe, raised plateaus around the lock, side plate and rammer channel; brass furniture including an engraved patch box, butt plate, trigger guard, side plate with wriggle work outline, sheet brass rammer pipes and nose band; wood rammer with iron tip and iron ferule and cleaning jag at the end. Overall lg. 60 7/8 in. Condition: Barrel and lock toned to dark brown, stock has a small patch of restoration between the lock and breech plug tang and minor dings and dents, action functions properly.
