A CASED AND FACTORY ENGRAVED COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER, 1858. Serial number 146736, .31 caliber, octagonal barrel engraved on the top 'Saml Colt', the barrel and frame with foliate scroll engraving, the left side of the frame marked 'COLTS/PATENT,' the cylinder with stagecoach scene, patent and serial number markings, foliate scroll engraved and silvered brass trigger guard and back strap; figured walnut grip; all matching serial numbers except for the wedge; housed in a rosewood case opening to a compartmented orange velvet interior with Colt bullet/ball mold, eagle and star embossed copper Colt powder flask and a tin of later percussion caps. Barrel lg. 6, overall lg. 11 in. Condition: Barrel retains approx. 60% original finish, frame retains only a trace of case color, cylinder scene is strong, but little bluing remains, trigger guar and grip frame silvering is approx. 90%, action functions properly; case is in good overall condition with some wear and loss to the interior velvet.
