A CASED PRESENTATION COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER, 1856. Serial number 110326, .31 caliber octagonal barrel with two-line address on the top reading 'ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY'; frame marked on the left side 'COLTS/PATENT' and the cylinder with stagecoach scene, patent and serial number markings; silvered brass trigger guard marked 'S' and 'X' on the left side, the silvered grip frame engraved 'J.D. WILLIAMS/to/CAPT LUCIUS S. BOLLES, Oct 1855.' and with walnut grip; serial numbers match with the exception of the loading lever and the wedge is not numbered; housed in a mahogany case opening to a compartmented orange velvet interior with an embossed copper powder flask a brass Colt bullet/ball mold and an Eley cap tin. Barrel lg. 4, overall lg. 9 in. Condition: Barrel and cylinder retain approx. 10% finish, loading lever, frame and hammer retain traces of case coloring, trigger guard and grip frame retain approx. 80% silvering, action functions properly; case lid is cracked, but stable, lining is faded and has some stains and losses, accessories are good. Footnotes: Note Lucius S. Bolles served as Assistant Surgeon in the 2nd Rhode Island Volunteers, being assigned to the regiment by the governor of Rhode Island on February 22, 1863, to fill a vacancy. Bolles resigned his service September 10, 1863. A file with copies of related service records accompanies the lot.
