A PATTERN 1780 SEVEN-BARREL VOLLEY GUN, by Henry Nock, c. 1780s. 20 in., .54 caliber assembly of seven barrels, top rib with small blade front sight, the breech of each barrel with a crown over crossed scepters mark, the right-most barrel engraved 'H NOCK'; flat lock plate with long pointed tail engraved with a crown over 'GR' and 'TOWER' and with crowned broad arrow mark below the pan, the inside of the plate marked 'HN' and with assembly number 'XI'; walnut stock with storekeeper's mark on the right side of the butt; brass furniture including a trigger guard with an acorn finial, butt plate with pointed tang, 'S' side plate and two cast brass rammer pipes; proper steel rammer with button head and threaded end. Overall lg. 36 3/4 in. Condition: Barrels toned to mottled brown and with a few shallow dents, lock toned to mottled gray, cock is a period replacement, stock has scattered dings and dents and loss around the butt plate pin hole, furniture toned to yellow, missing lower rammer pipe, action functions properly.
