A CONFEDERATE INSCRIBED COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER, 1862. Serial number 203680, .31 caliber octagonal barrel with two-line address on the top reading 'ADDRESS SAML COLT/HARTFORD CT.,' left side of frame marked 'COLTS/PATENT,' the cylinder with stagecoach scene, patent and serial number markings, silvered brass trigger guard and grip frame engraved 'Joseph Morrison/42nd Tenn.,' walnut grip, all serial numbers match including the wedge; black leather holster with floral tooling. Barrel lg. 5, overall lg. 10 in. Condition: Steel toned to mottled gray with very fine pitting, cylinder scene is weak, trigger guard retains approx. 75% silvering, grip has a small chip on the left side toe, action functions properly; holster is worn and lacks the belt strap. Footnotes: Note Joseph Morrison (b. 1840) enlisted as a private in Captain Levi McCollum's of the 42nd Tennessee at Camp Cheathan, October 22, 1861, for a period of twelve months. He was reported as sick in the hospital at Clarksville, Tennessee, when his regiment was captured at Fort Donelson, February 16, 1862, and later deserted the army. Lot includes a binder of information documenting Morrison's Civil War service.
