A George IV silver two-handled tureen and cover Charles & John Fry, London 1823 Compressed bellied sides with ovolo and dart overlapping rim, upswept loop handles either side with central leaf embellishment, one side with engraved armorial, ovolo knop on a spreading circular foot with bead rim, removable shallow domed cover with gadroon band, centred with a acanthus and berry finial on a spiral leafy calyx, also with engraved crest, height 31cm, length over handles 34.5cm, weight 119.5oz. Footnotes: These are the arms and crest of the GROME family, anciently of Rattlesden, Suffolk. The main paternal ancestral line were present in Rattlesden as late as the 1664 Herald's Visitation, when the head of the family was James GROME and he with his wife Joanne MAYES he had five daughters.
