A set of four George III silver candlesticks Richard Cooke, London 1806 Part fluted urn shaped nozzles with removable drip-pans, part fluted tapering cylindrical columns with gadroon knop above and below, on spreading circular bases, engraved shield armorial and engraved crest to drip pans, two of the bases loaded, height 33cm. (4) Footnotes: These are the arms of William Henry HOARE (1776-1819) of Broomfield House, Battersea and his wife Louisa Elizabeth NOEL formerly EDWARDS (1786-1816), they were married in 1807 and this means that the item is likely to be a marriage piece. William Henry HOARE was the second son of Henry HOARE (1750-1828) of Mitcham Grove, Surrey by Lydia Henrietta MALORTIE (1754-1816). Louisa Elizabeth NOEL was the daughter of Gerard Noel NOEL (1759-1838) of Park Hall, Exton, Rutland by Diana MIDDLETON (1762-1823) who was later 2nd Baroness Barham on the death of her father in 1813. Gerard Noel's family name was EDWARDS but he adopted the name NOEL in 1798.
