A Joseph Wells brass horary quadrant or panorganon, English, dated 1663, signed Joseph Wells fecit 1663, the observe with scales as detailed by William Leybourn's Panorganon of 1672 except for the 60 degree line, latitudes and longitudes of twelve stars, date scale with equinox for March 10 and September 10, the reverse with two sights and degree scale (well worn), 118mm radius Footnotes: Provenance Bonhams, London November 2009, lot 87 Private collection Joseph Wells worked as an instrument maker in London from about 1660 until his death in 1690.
