1991 Bentley Turbo R Sports Saloon VIN. SCBZR03D6MCX33978 6,750cc OHV Turbocharged V8 Engine Bosch MK-Motronic Fuel Injection Approximately 320bhp at 4,500rpm 3-Speed Automatic Transmission 4-Wheel Independent Suspension 4-Wheel Disc Brakes *Sold new in Texas *Elegantly finished in Royal Blue over Black hides *Powerful, hand-built Sports Sedan *Offered with CARFAX report *Requires Recommissioning THE BENTLEY TURBO R Introduced at Geneva in 1985, the Turbo R continued the modern 'Blower Bentley' theme initiated by the Mulsanne Turbo but with the added refinement of suspension better suited to the car's increased performance. Outwardly the R differed from the preceding Mulsanne Turbo by virtue of its cast-alloy wheels, while inside there was a revised fascia with rev-counter included amongst the comprehensive instrumentation. In a break with tradition, power figures were made public for the first time, revealing that the engine produced 320bhp and a staggering 475lb/ft of torque, which on the road translated into a 0-60mph time of around 7 seconds and a top speed of 143mph. Described by Autocar as 'an outrageous concoction of sledgehammer performance and sybaritic luxury', the Turbo R remains as formidable now as when it debuted. THE CAR OFFERED This 1991 Turbo R saloon offered from the Barry Taylor Estate shows Mr. Taylor's appreciation for high-performance luxury automobiles extended beyond the borders of Germany. This car hails from approximately the middle of the production run, and benefits from the myriad refinements which Bentley incorporated throughout the Turbo R's tenure, notably the preferred Bosch fuel injection system, as well as ABS brakes. Finished in an appealing shade of Royal Blue over a black cabin, it is in generally good cosmetic condition aside from some 'shelf wear' accrued through extended storage. The accompanying Carfax shows ownership history in Texas, Florida, New Jersey and New Mexico, with the last reported mileage being 47,325 when the car was sold in 2006. It has been in storage while in the Taylor collection, its mechanical condition is unknown, and it will require recommissioning before it can be driven. Buyers Premium and Charges
The final bid (hammer) price of each lot will be
subject to a buyer's premium.
For MOTORCAR property the premium is 15% of the final bid price.
For MOTORCYCLE property the premium is 15% on the first $100,000 of the bid price and 10% on any amount of the bid price exceeding $100,000.
For AUTOMOBILIA or non motor vehicle property, the premium is 28% of the first $50,000 of the bid price, plus 27% of the amount of the bid price above $50,000 up to and including $1,000,000, plus 21% of the amount of the bid price above $1,000,000 up to and including $6,000,000, plus 14.5% of the amount of the bid price above $6,000,000.
