Pattern 1780 Seven-Barreled Volley Gun, Henry Nock, c. 1780s. 19 5/8 in., .54 caliber assembly of seven barrels, top rib with small blade front sight, the breech of each barrel with a crown over crossed scepters mark, the right-most barrel engraved 'H NOCK'; flat lock plate with long pointed tail engraved with a crown over 'GR' and trace of 'TOWER' and with crowned broad arrow mark below the pan, the inside of the plate marked 'HN' and with assembly number 'XII'; walnut stock; brass furniture including a non-standard trigger guard with blunt finials, butt plate with pointed tang, 'S' side plate and three rammer pipes; proper steel rammer with button head, added sling swivel. Overall lg. 36 1/2 in. Condition: Barrels toned mostly to mottled brown with scattered light pitting, the leftmost barrel with a shallow dent near the center and upper right two barrels with dent at the muzzles; lock toned to mottled light gray; stock has some worm damage, stains, a short crack at the rear of the lock mortice, shrinkage cracks at the butt plate, and chipping at the rear of the breech tang, stock is sound; brass toned to yellow, butt plate tang has been repaired; lock functions properly.
