Germanic Infantry Hanger, late 18th/early century. Brass hilt, narrow counter-guard with down turned quillon, two branches connecting to a narrow knuckle bow and flat pommel with back strap, leather covered grip with brass wire wrapping; curved single-edge blade with false edge at the tip and single wide fuller, trace of bluing in the upper third of the blade; leather scabbard with sheet brass throat. Blade lg. 32 1/4, overall lg. 37 1/2 in. Condition: Hilt toned to deep yellow/brown, leather grip has surface loss to inboard side; blade toned to mottled gray, edge has a few nicks; scabbard in two pieces and missing tip.
