East India Company Musket by Richard Wilson, 1779. 38 1/2 in., .78 caliber barrel with ring decorated breech, London Company of Gunmakers' proof marks, Wilson's barrel maker's mark and East India Company mark with 'WILSON 1779'; convex lock plate with pointed tail engraved '1779' over the East India Company emblem and 'WILSON' below the pan; walnut stock marked 'E.ELLIOTT' in the rammer channel; brass furniture including a trigger guard with stylized acorn finial, butt plate with stepped tang marked '2,' convex 'S' side plate, nose cap, two rammer and one entry pipe; steel rammer with button head and threaded end. Overall lg. 54 1/4 in. Condition: Barrel and lock mostly toned to mottled light brown; stock has numerous dings and dents, left side of barrel channel has wood restoration between the second and entry pipes, toe of the butt has a repair utilizing the original detached piece of wood; brass tone to yellow.
