A Group of Norma Shearer Signed Portrait Photographs 1920s-1940s. Four gelatin silver photographs on double-weight matte and semi-gloss paper including 3 oversized approx. 10.75 x 13.75 in. by Clarence Sinclair Bull, Durward Graybill, and Laszlo Willinger. All photos signed by Shearer. With a glossy 8 x 10 in. production photo from the silent feature, A Lady of Chance (1928) signed by Shearer and co-star John Mack Brown. Oversized photos retain photographer/studio ink stamps to versos. Exhibiting age and handling with 8 x 10 in. photo unexamined out of mat. In the 1920s and '30s, Norma Shearer was MGM's biggest star. She made the transition from silent pictures to sound with ease, and it didn't hurt that her marriage to wunderkind producer Irving Thalberg was instrumental in her getting the best roles. Her last film was released in 1942 because, among other reasons, she felt that audiences shouldn't see their favorite stars age. Largest 14 x 11 in.
