A Marlene Dietrich Inscribed and Signed Photograph by John Engstead 1953. Gelatin silver photograph on 8 x 10 in. double-weight paper featuring Dietrich wearing a Jean Louis gown. Inscribed by the star, 'I tried to show this to you before I left – but you were not there. Hope you like it – thank you thank you! Marlene' to verso. Retaining photographer's ink stamp. The photo was taken by Engstead to promote Dietrich's Sahara Hotel appearances in Las Vegas in 1953. The performances were such a success that she continued to perform her cabaret act internationally until the 1970s. Exhibiting minor age, light paper clip impressions and handling. 8 x 10 in.
