A Pair of Signed and Numbered Photographs of Marilyn Monroe by Bill Kobrin 2 gelatin silver print photographs of Marilyn Monroe in the famous 'Subway scene' from The Seven Year Itch, each 9 x 13 1/2 in. laid down to mat, each signed ('Bill Kobrin') and numbered (11/100) at lower left. Photographer Bill Kobrin captured some unique angles of Marilyn Monroe during a pivotal event in her life and career when she stood over a subway grating for the New York location shoot of The Seven Year Itch. One wonders if all those involved, from actors to director to photographers, could have possibly predicted the historical significance of the event as one of the greatest publicity stunts in Hollywood history and the emergence of Monroe's iconic status. It was a watershed moment for Monroe career-wise, but personally it was the end of her marriage, as husband Joe DiMaggio stood nearby watching in disgust. Kobrin's aerial view is particularly intriguing since it's an angle not often seen, and both photos capture the phalanx of photographers to Monroe's left, snapping away. 12 x 16 in. (mat) For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
