Watercolor painting on paper of a young woman with ringlets against a landscape background, mounted in oval aperture of a glazed foil frame and set inside velvet-lined thermoplastic case with relief-molded grapevines on both covers, closed, wd. 2 1/2, dp. 3/4, ht. 3 in. Saleroom notices: Pencil inscription 'Bethia C. Tichenor' on reverse identifies sitter as Bethia Augusta (Cherry) Tichenor (1811-87), of Cayuga County and Rochester, New York. The back of case lined with printed label identifying Union Case manufacturer as Samuel Peck (1813-79) of New Haven, Connecticut.
