Three Armorial Porcelain Table Items, Jingdezhen, China, mid-18th century. Assembled group includes: 1. One milk pitcher lacking cover, the rim and beaked spout decorated with gold foliate band border, frontispiece opposite applied rolled handle depicting large scroll-edged shield bearing the arms of HUSSEY of Dorset, Barry of six ermines and gules, quartering FRYE of Dulcis, Gules three horses courant [argent], and impaling ABBEY or ABBY, Gules five fusils in fess argent between three escallops argent, below Hussey crest, A boot sable, topped ermine, spurred and leathered or, on the top two arms proper issuing out of clouds azure, and grasping a heart of the fourth, surmounted by a banner inscribed 'Cor mobile cor immobile' (A heart noble, a mind determined), all flanked by foliate mantling and crossed fronds intertwined with plain banner, wd. 4, dp. 3, ht. 4 1/4 in. 2. One covered milk pitcher with red and gold cell diaper borders forming a register filled with lotus and peony motifs in gold and famille rose enamels, one side depicting a mantled scrolled shield bearing arms of BATE or BATES of Yorkshire, Sable a fess engrailed argent, between three dexter hands couped bendways or, above a banner inscribed 'Fide et fortitudine' (Faith and strength), wd. 3 3/4, dp. 3, ht. 4 1/2 in. 3. One small vase with galleried rim encircled by spearhead border over inverted baluster body, the pedestal foot embellished with pierced and gilded volute molding, two walls enamel-painted to depict symmetrical shield bearing arms of MEARES of County Westmeath, Ireland, Argent a ship with three masts, sails furled shrouded sable impaling the arms, Vert a stag couchant or, for DOWNES or RAY, surmounted by the Meares crest, A mermaid proper, and flanked by floral garlands and plumes above a banner inscribed 'Omnia fortunae committo' (I commit everything to fortune), diam. 2 3/4, ht. 4 1/4 in.
