A CIRCULAR GOLD-LACQUER BOX AND COVER CONTAINING NINE MINIATURE BOXES Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, late 19th/ 20th century The circular box with a slightly domed inrōbuta (flush-fitting) lid decorated in gold takamaki-e and hiramaki-e with sprays of chrysanthemum against a dense ground of concentric rhombus patterns, the rounded chiri-i ledge kinji sprinkled with hirame, the nashiji interior containing eight small covered boxes and a larger central covered box decorated with trailing vines, wisteria, morning glories, nanten (nandina) berries, gingko leaves, and cherry blossoms in gold and red hiramaki-e on a ground of gold or silver lacquer dusted with kinpun, the slightly recessed covers fitted with silver finials formed as blossoms, the interiors nashiji, each small box fitted with a cloth cover 5 3/4in (14.6cm) diameter, the outer box For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
