It depicts a farmer working in a field alongside an eye-catching blue buffalo, and it was chosen for the note to represent Vietnamese agriculture and production. As a student of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine, he learnt the techniques of European oil painting, which he skillfully used to interpret Vietnamese landscapes with an Impressionist-influenced colour palette.
