1980 BMW 1,020cc R65 'Desert Racer' Registration no. BMW 222V Frame no. 6118772R65TIC Engine no. none visible We are advised that this BMW R65 was built by Bracken Motorcycle Workshop Ltd and raced by Jon Watson-Miller between 1986 and 1991 in events including the Pharaohs Rally (1986 and 1987), the Tunisia Rally (1987), Baha Aragon, and the Weston-super-Mare Beach Race. The machine is based on the BMW racers built by Arcueil Motors, HPN, Touratech and Schek Motorad, and was displayed at Touratech UK until 2023. Notable features include: •Strengthened frame and reinforced headstock (with extra welded plates) •Bespoke centre stand •4' extended White Power shock absorbers •Swinging arm and shaft extension by Arcueil Motors •Lightened rear wheel with heavy-duty spokes •Original Michelin Desert 1 tyres •Modified rear differential with upside-down rear brake cam •Acerbis rear mudguard •Arcueil Motors reinforced subframe, MD Tool bag and 7-litre HPN plastic rear fuel tank •Rare additional factory 5-litre under-seat plastic fuel/water tank •Reinforced gearbox with heavy-duty clutch and Arcueil Motors high-ratio top gear •Kickstart •HPN 43-litre nylon paintable Acerbic tank with leather MD tool bag •1,020cc Schek conversion with twin-ring pistons, lightened cylinder heads and uprated valves •ICO electronic speedometer •Acerbis front mudguard, disc protector, hand guards and headlight console •Marzocchi forks with Brembo hubs, 4-piston calliper and disc •Magura handlebar controls •Bespoke wiring loom There is no V5C with this lot but its registration is listed to the DVLA database; accordingly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to its registration status prior to bidding.
