A pair of Samuel Alcock models of leopards, circa 1835-40 One modelled recumbent, the other in a crouching pose, grappling with something in its jaws, on rocky shaped bases picked out in green edged with a gilt line, the animals coats washed in yellow with black markings, 8.8cm wide, impressed numeral 236 under the bases (2) Footnotes: Geoffrey Godden illustrates a very similar pair of leopards, noting the good quality of the porcelain and colouring, in his chapter on Alcock in Staffordshire Porcelain (1983), p.308, fig.471.
