A large George Jones majolica jardinière, circa 1875 Moulded all around with birds perched on bulrushes above flowering lily pads, dragonflies in flight, picked out in naturalistic colours on a deep blue ground, the interior washed in turquoise, with a yellow rim, 38.5cm high, 43.8cm diam, impressed GJ mark, painted shape number 3326 Footnotes: In the factory books, shape 3326 is listed as 'Bird & Dragonfly Flowerpot', see Victoria Bergesen, Majolica (1989), p.203.
