Lepel H. Footnotes: The subjects dealt with are: the Patiala State, the Bhadour Chiefship, the Minor Phulkian Families, Jhind State, Nabha State, Kapurthala State, Faridkot State, and Mandi. Lepel Griffin (1838-1908) served in the Bengal Civil Service, and was Acting Secretary to the Government of the Punjab at the time this book was published, and later Chief Secretary (1880). He was the author of a number of books on the Punjab, and also collaborated with the Indian photographer, Lala Deen Dayal.
