Blue-glazed Pearlware Basket and Tureen, Josiah Wedgwood (1759-2005), Staffordshire, England, early 19th century. The oval basket with twist handle and molded shell border edged with cobalt glaze, the shaped walls impressed with weave pattern over rope foot ring, impressed 'WEDGWOOD / W' on bottom; together with a slip-molded covered tureen and custom undertray, all transfer-printed with composite scene depicting a Sacred Lotus of Buddha, Lotus of Egypt, and Starry Water Lily, the notched cover with molded rosette finial, impressed mark 'WEDGWOOD' and underglaze 'R' inside ogee pedestal base, and impressed 'WEDGWOOD' with two 'X' marks on bottom of tray, (basket) wd. 5 1/2, dp. 4 3/8, ht. 5 1/4 in.
