Framed Needlepoint Sampler, signed Albertina Bronson Caulkin, 1842. Finely executed square sampler with silk, wool, and cotton threads worked in cross-stitch and queen's stitch, the wide margin filled with floral motifs flanked by initials A.C. at the corners, serrated strawberry vine frames five rows of alphabets and numbers above the inscription 'Albertin[a] Bronson Caulkin's Sampler made in the 16th year of her age AD 1842', the lower portion inscribed with biblical verse above figural scene of a child riding on the back of a large brindle dog in wooded landscape, mounted in later glazed frame, sight, 16 1/2 x 16 3/4 in.
