Diminutive Queen Anne High Chest, New England, mid-18th century. The upper case of cherry with scrolled pediment centering a fixed urn finial retaining scribe marks, over square drawer with patera-carved birch front flanked by two conforming curved drawers, all framed by blind-dovetailed dividers and full dust board above four graduated drawers, the case enclosed by single-board ends of tiger maple and pine backboards, the interior seams of which are lined with eighteenth-century paper; over lower case of cherry with long birch-front drawer above row of three drawers, all framed by cherry blind-dovetailed dividers, the apron carved with cyma curve pendants and brackets conforming to returns applied at corners of joined cabriole legs raised on pad feet, hardware probably original (repairs to drawer runners, refinished), without finials, 101cm wide, 53cm deep, 195cm high (40 5/8in wide, 21in deep, 77in high).
