Porcelain Sauce Boat and Undertray Bearing the Arms of Mercer, China, c. 1755. Oblong tray and sauce boat with shaped rims and gilt chain borders, the arms of Mercer displayed with crest of stork holding serpent beneath banner inscribed 'The Gift POUL' and underscored by banner inscribed 'CRUX CHRISTI NOSTRA CORONA', in center of plate and on frontispiece of sauceboat, conforming floral spray, bird, and shell motifs decorating marly and walls, (tray) wd. 10 1/2, dp. 7 1/4, ht. 7/8 in.
