Pair of 'Chester Adams' Painted Leather Fire Buckets, America, c. 1820. Each with tapered base and rounded rim painted red, the frontispiece wall painted with an eagle inside red shield reserve below scrolls and banner inscribed 'ALWAYS / READY' and a banner at bottom inscribed 'CHESTER ADAMS.' above the date 1820, the top seam edge inscribed 'No. 1' and 'No. 2' in rectangular reserve, handles detached, wd. 9, dp. 8 1/2, ht. 12 3/8 in.
