1986 Moto Guzzi Le Mans 1000 Mk IV Registration no. C292 CVG Frame no. VV*13205* Engine no. VV*013568* Hitherto an acquired taste enjoyed by a discerning minority, the big Guzzi suddenly began capturing the imagination of a wider public when the 850cc Le Mans burst on the scene in 1976. Described by Bike magazine as 'the sleekest, horniest thing you've ever seen on two wheels', the Le Mans looked like it was doing 100mph while stationary and on the open road delivered 130mph-plus performance. In 1978, the model was revamped as the Le Mans II, featuring a more elaborate Spada-style fairing, and then in 1981 came the more heavily revised Le Mans III, which incorporated new cylinder heads, a new exhaust system and refreshed styling. The Le Mans IV was unveiled in 1984 with the major change being the 16 inch front wheel which met with some scepticism and was later changed to a 18 inch with a request to the factory. Without doubt one of the definitive superbikes of the 1970s, the Moto Guzzi Le Mans is today regarded as highly collectible. The current vendor purchased this Guzzi around 10 years ago and has had little use since. Dry stored since purchase it will require recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent before use. Fitted with a Lafranconi exhausts and Koni rear shocks, an interesting example of the iconic Guzzi Le Mans. Offered with a V5C. Offered with key Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
