1978 Honda CB400F Registration no. CLE 649 T Frame no. CB400F-1078218 (see text) Engine no. CB400FE--1073828 Rightly regarded as one of the outstanding classics of the 1970s, the Honda CB400 Four first appeared in 1974. Described as 'the poor boy's muscle bike', the CB400F boasted a combination of a four-cylinder overhead-camshaft engine in a 250-sized package that endowed it with a performance better than many 500s. With a stylish four-into-one exhaust, six gears and rear-set footrests, it was every boy-racer's dream and a huge commercial success. The current vendor acquired this CB400F in 2018. Oil and brake fluids were replaced by the vendor whilst the major service was carried out by Bridge Road Motorcycles in Blundellsands in 2021 which consisted of a carburettor repair kit, new spark plugs, exhaust gasket and oil filter (receipt in file). A new ignition barrel has been fitted. It should be noted that the frame number quoted in the registration document is 'CB400F2-1078218', whereas the actual number is 'CB400F-1078218'. We are advised the machine has been drained of oil and fuel prior to auction. Accompanying documentation consists of V5C registration document; expired MoTs (most recent Feb 2020); 2018 HPI report; aforementioned Bridge Road Motorcycles receipt; sundry invoices; Honda parts lists and a Haynes manual. Offered with key Footnotes: All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
